What a weekend…. what a weekend. I think it was one of the best weekends of mine in the last period. So relaxing, so much fun. Life is great :)
Amit, Liv, Ludek, Zeno and me rented a car and we went to Arnhem, Nijmegen and Dusseldorf. We started our journey Saturday morning and we went straight to Arnhem.

Arnhem is a small and nice city in Netherlands and it is quite famous because, very important things happened there in the World War II.
If you saw the movie called “A bridge too far” then you know what I am talking about. You can find a pretty good website about what happened there and about the whole “Market garden operation” if you click here.
We went up to the tower of the church and we could see all Arnhem and of course the famous bridge. It was a really nice view from up there. It was strange that we went up to the tower with an elevator. It was so cool to look around and see so much beauty. Netherlands is a wonderful place to be if you get some sunny days :)

After we admired the beautiful panorama in Arnhem, we decided to discover the Veluwezoom National Park near Arnhem. It was the first time when I climbed hills in Netherlands. We had a 5 km walk up to the top of a hill where from we could look down to Germany. It is strange the concept of national park, because you have paved road to the top and signs and everything, and at the top you have a restaurant. It was really nice to be in nature and to see green hills and trees and listen to the songs of the birds. I missed being in the nature. This walk was also a good opportunity to reflect on my learning from the AI term and to make a little bit of order in my head.

We enjoyed the park so much that we have decided to have a picnic and not to go to a usual restaurant. So we went to the supermarket, we got some food and we went to find a lake, which is a pretty easy task in Netherlands :) .
We had dinner near a nice lake where we watched the boats and the yachts. A lot of Dutch families have boat and they go to sail in the weekend. I think it is a very relaxing and cool thing to do :).
It was so cool that we just had a crazy idea and we had the freedom and flexibility to do that. The picnic was great and relaxing, we were just sitting on the grass, eating and having fun.

After the picnic we went to Nijmegen, another city famous from the World War II :). We met there Lotta (from AIESEC Nijmegen) who took us to a terrace where we had few drinks and a lot of fun. Nijmegen is a really beautiful city with a lot of students and with a very interesting nightlife. There were a lot of people on the streets and everything was so alive. It remembered me a little bit of Barcelona.
In the morning we went in a small park where it was a metal construction and a guy in Zorro clothes was standing on the top with some banners and with some leaflets and was protesting against something. It was really random, and the police were just standing and watching him, some people were just having a sunbath. It was really funny :)
There is a promenade near the river in Nijmegen and we had a morning walk there and we went for some drinks and I ate a very very delicious cherry cake :)

From Nijmegen we went to Dusseldorf and of course because there is no speed limit in Germany on the highway I could drive with 180 km/hour :) .It is cool to drive with high speed and feel that the adrenalin level is high in your body.
Dusseldorf is a nice city. We walked around in the centre a little bit and after that we went to the promenade where a nice jazz band was playing. There are a lot of terraces there and because of the good weather; people were out to stay in the sun. We took a boat trip on the Rhein. That was fantastic. It is so cool to go around and enjoy the sun, the nice view and the summer breeze. It is really hard to describe how I felt on that boat. It was everything so perfect and so good.

On the way back from Dusseldorf we drove a bit on the normal rode, not on the highway in Netherlands. The countryside is amazingly beautiful. It is so nice and so green. I am quite sad that I will leave this country. It is just great to be here. But until leave, I hope that I will have some more great weekends like this here :)
