Volleyball and jogging

It is fantastic weather outside and it seems that the summer arrived to the Netherlands as well. I haven’t seen the country like this, with so much sunshine :):).

We went yesterday to play volleyball and celebrate the good weather. I have never played so far this game, but now I have found it really cool. It is fairly simple to learn and it can be really fun if you have a nice gang. It is cool to learn to play new sports and to move your muscles.

This morning I went to run with Kamil and Rajiv and it was really cool to start the day like this. Actually jogging can be fun :).

It seems that I became an active sport man as I play soccer, volleyball, ping-pong, I go to swim and to run, and I play darts and golf sometimes :).

Poetry night

The good thing in AI is that you do things that you have never done before. As my friend Arthur said yesterday, this is the "challenge your worldview" part of our AIESEC Experience :)

We gathered yesterday night in a very cosy room and each one of us read his favourite poem. It was really nice to hear nice poems and see why people picked that specific one. I read "Egy szenvedély margójára” by Pilinszky János and I tried to translate it. My colleagues really liked it. It is a great poem about passion!!!

I think the highlight of the night was the Chinese poem. It is really nice to hear poems read in Chinese (if you have Chinese friends, ask them to read you some poems).
I hope we will have some nights like this in the future as well. Maybe you can gather your friends and make a poetry night like this :) .

What a morning...

I woke up at 6:15 am in the morning and it was sunshine in my room. It is not happening too often :) So I decided that I will go to swim in the morning. I went out and it was really pleasant weather. There was no wind, there was warm outside and sunshine:).

Swimming in the morning is great. I swam like 45 minutes and after that I stayed in the Jacuzzi for a while. And after that I came to work. It is great!!!

I like to swim before work, because it makes me very relaxed and I start working in a very relaxed mood, with a very positive approach. I just feel like singing and doing great stuff in the office. I recommend for everybody to try it!!!

Now is getting really hot outside and I hope that it will remain the same for the next 2 months, until I am here in the Netherlands. I will miss this country.

eXtreme eXperience

There are moments in life, when you feel that you are lost, that one of the pillars of your life is just gone and you need something to find a new meaning, a new balance for your life. And this is the moment when you decide to try something which pushes you to the limits, that brings you close to death and gives a new meaning to what life means; this is the moment when you probably go bungee jumping.

I was in Groningen this week for team days and I decided to try it, to really push myself to the limits… Well…. It is fantastic !!! I have never experienced something like this before. It was just the thing I needed.

When the countdown starts, you have a feeling that ooopsss, something wrong will happen and you have second thoughts…. But you are just shot vertically in the air…. In the first 5 seconds I think I did not even realized what was happening…. After that the first thing that I have realized was that I was screaming like hell….I got conscious because I heard my screaming…. I think I got rid of all the negative energies in me because of this screaming…..Then I was just going down and I was seeing the ground coming with high speed…. That is the moment when you feel the fear and you feel that dying is not such a good idea and you say to yourself, I have to survive this and somebody should stop this falling…. I think this is the moment when you just have that “survival instinct “ in action. And suddenly I just realized that I was flying back to the sky again and I just got above the buildings around and I saw the whole city from above and then I was just spinning in the air and going towards the ground again.

When I was going towards the ground second time I already enjoyed the view and enjoyed flying. There was no fear, just excitement. I enjoyed flying and I was looking around and laughing, I still do not know why. I realised that it is really coool and that this extreme experience is the coolest thing I could do. Bungee really challenges your mind and your body. Even after half an hour all my muscles were tensed and my heart was beating like hell. The adrenalin was at the maximum and I just felt extremely excited.

I can’t write anymore about this, because it is a feeling that I can’t describe, you just have to try it for yourself, but I am definitely sure that I will do it again. Actually I am thinking of trying skydiving. It should be really fun.

Valami véget ért

Forró betonon hasalok,
Távoli hang csak a gyász.
Lassan lüktet egy ér,
Fellobog halkan a láz.

Sima tenyér a hátamhoz ér,
Oh, csak játszik a szél.
Tudom már messze vagy rég,
Bennem minden halk szavad él.

Halott virágok illatát nyögik a fák,
És megrazkódik a táj.
Valami véget ért,
Valami fáj.

Ahogy fölem nõ az éj,
Álmodni nem hagy a vád.
Ha lecsukom fáradt szemem,
Tekinteted az arcomba vág.

Szemed tuzénél megvakulok,
De lassan újra feljön a nap.
Nelküled semmi vagyok.

Halott virágok illatát nyögik a fák,
És megrazkódik a táj.
Valami véget ért,

Valami fáj.

Hungarian Restaurant in Rotterdam

There is a nice Hungarian Restaurant in Rotterdam just 15 minutes from my home. I was there Sunday evening with some friends. The waiter was Hungarian and the whole setting was according to the Hungarian traditions. We ate really cool Hungarian food (yammmiiii) and drunk some famous Hungarian wines (like Egri Bikavér).

It is really nice to feel at home for few hours and connect myself to the roots again. Luis, Zeno and Gee even played the piano in the restaurant. I saw that they have even a double bass there. It reminded me the times when I was playing on it (for four years) in a Transylvanian folk band :) It came a brave idea in my mind. When I will know what will be my next job/assignment, I will buy a new violin and I will start playing again (I used to play for 5 years on violin). I hope I will have cool neighbours who will tolerate my play :):):)

Dali exhibition

I was in the weekend at the Dali exhibition here in Rotterdam. "It's All Dalí" shows the unknown sides of the famous artist Salvador Dalí. A refreshing exhibition, with work that often has not been displayed before. Photographs, films, fashion designs, objects, commercials, publications and dozens of extraordinary paintings illustrate Dalí’s versatile fascination with various different media.

I really liked walking there around and seeing those extraordinary things. He definitely was a genius. The cartoon he made with Walt Disney is the best. It is called Destino and you just sit there and you want to watch it again and again and again.... You just get into an other world and you challenge your mind whenever you look at those masterpieces. After the exhibition I was walking in a very nice park near the exhibition and I was playing around with my mind, trying to challenge my thoughts and the way I see things...

If you want some really cool experiences, you should not miss this exhibition!!!

Sad Friday :(

That phone is not ringing, that e-mail is not coming, that sun is not shining. And I fell like waiting for it for ages. The song that usually makes me feel good now is just a noise, a scream in my ears. I want to run... until I won't feel my muscles, until I won't be able to think, until I will be able to just lay down and fall asleep immediatelly and wake up in a sunny and happy morning.

Go to Keukenhof if you want to see tulips :)

Few weeks back I went to Keukenhof. Every spring Keukenhof is a feast for the eye. Millions of tulips and other bulb flowers are then in bloom. A fantastic experience for people of all ages and a wonderful spectacle to photograph! An overwhelming display of color in a beautiful setting covering an area of 32 hectares that incorporates elements of traditional and modern landscape gardening.

This place attracts each year millions of tourists from all over the world. It was extremely relaxing to walk in this garden, see the different kind of tulips in thousands of colors. As Holland is very well known for its tulips, visitors are really attracted to see this place. It is unique. I was just walking around, thinking of all kind of things related to my life and I was enjoying the beauty of nature. I felt that if there is such beauty in the world, then with time all the things will be all right and among people there will be such harmony as it was there.

I was thinking while I was walking there that I should get all these amazing flowers and give to the one I love :) I think is a nice thing to get one million flowers :)

“Erdély Aranykora” (The Golden Age of Transilvania)

My intention with this blog is not to transform it into a “book descriptions” blog, but I want to write about another cool book I have read lately.

A Hungarian writer, Jókai Mór, wrote it and it can be translated as “The Golden Age of Transylvania”. The original title is “Erdély Aranykora” and the background of the story is linked to a part of Transylvania's history from the 17th century, when Transylvania was an independent country and had its own ruler.

It is about leadership, love, understanding among nations, democracy, history, faith, and loyalty to the country, ideas, and wives:) It is a very complex book and you can understand all the aspects of the life from Transylvania and the characteristics of the Transylvanians (and not only) living there, their background and heritage.

It helped me to reconnect with my origins and also helped me to discover that my way of thinking, the things I believe in, the way I am have a strong cultural background/origin; my values have an origin in the fundamental values of my nation.

I strongly recommend this book for all Transylvanians (and not only).

Madurodam - Holland in miniature

Oana and Adriana (two of my former bosses in AIESEC Romania :) ) visited me in Rotterdam. We said that we go out for a breakfast, but we ended up in Den Haag in Madurodam.

Madurodam is a small city where you can find in miniature all the cool things from Holland. You can see the canal houses of Amsterdam, the Alkmaar cheese market and parts of the Delta Works, all replicated in minute detail on a 1:25 scale. All is set in beautiful gardens.

The plants in the miniature garden are kept in proportion by pruning. There are some trees that would grow to 20 or 30 meters high if they were not pruned. In Madurodam they grow to a maximum of 80 centimetres, even after years, and still look completely mature, with their trunks 'to scale'. These trees are pruned about six to ten times a year. The miniature garden accommodates several varieties of trees such as maple, beech, elm and oak and in spite of their diminished height they all look completely natural. You can visit the Madurodam website if you click here.

If you are in Holland, you should definitely visit it. I was thinking that it is a really cool marketing tool. You go there and you see in one place how Holland is, and therefore you really want to see all those great places in their normal size. It gives you a very good overview of how the country functions and what defines it as a country. Besides that, the place itself is a very cool tourist attraction. I was thinking that it would be great to have something like this in Romania. Anyway for the romanian tourism I think the first step should be the development of a centralized online booking system for the hotels and motels :) Or at least some normal websites for them :)

A Good Book to Read

I read a really cool book, and finally in Hungarian. It is written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and the original title is "Memoria de mis putas tristes". It might be translated like "The memory of my sad whores". In Hungarian is "Bánatos Kurváim Emlékezete". Sounds really good in Hungarian :)

It is about love of course :):) But a very unusual love:) When an old guy becomes 90 years old, decides that he wants to have sex with a virgin girl and calls the madam to arrange it... This is where the story begins. The guy had no wife or family and as he sad, he never could get married because of the whores he had (more then 500 :) ). He never could give up his "lifestyle" in order to have a family. If you want to find out more, just read the book :)

However it made me to think (again) about my life and the way I do things (do not think that I am going to "visit" that kind of girls :) ). Will I ever be able to give up my lifestle to have a family? You know, to not chase a good job, a good career, a good opportunities for personal and professional development? I always say that yes, when I get older. I hope that I won't be 90 years old when I will do that :), just like the guy in the book.
